What are you reading now?
I've been reading a lot of scary spooky novels lately. Just finished Little Darlings by Melanie Golding. Currently reading The Year of Witching by Alexis Henderson.
What’s a book that inspired you to become a writer?
The Coldest Winter Ever By Sista Souljah.
Have you gone back to it since you started publishing novels?
Yes, there's a beautiful inscription from the author that I cherish, encouraging me to be an author. I think about that moment often.
Is there a book or author that provided inspiration for constructing the “whodunnit” mystery in Grown?
Nope. Just my own silly brain.
What’s the book on your to-read pile that’s been there the longest – that you still actually hope to read? (Be honest. No shame. Life is short; book stacks are tall.)
[laughs] What a great question. It's actually a self-help book, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I keep saying I'm going to pick it up so I can learn how to not take things so personally. Which is so important in this field, where people are quick to criticize.
